Home to surfing hotspot Waikiki, Hawaii is one of the best places to ride the currents of the Pacific. Invented by royalty from the islands – a hell of a long time ago – the wave-riding sport we all know and love is part of Hawaii’s rich culture.
From Oahu to Maui, the islands’ shores attract world-class surfers all year round. With this, the surfing boom has seen a surge in Hawaiian stores that celebrate the sport and cater to natives and visiting surfers. These stores are an ocean lover’s dream, selling niche items like surf swimwear and custom surfboards. As residents of the island, the Lokahi Swimwear team brings you our curation of Hawaii’s favorite surf stores.
Hi-Tech Surf Sports
With four stores in Hawaii, Hi-Tech Surf Sports is a one-stop-shop for all things surf and skate. Along with selling awesome apparel, boards and accessories, they have the largest selection of stand up paddleboards, surfboards and windsurfing gear to rent on Maui. We're pleased to say that Lokahi Swimwear will soon be stocked in store.
A treasure trove of surfing, camping, art, and lifestyle products, Goin Left is in Lahaina, Maui – situated ideally close to the shore. The Goin Left team describes the store as “an eclectic surf boutique, offering quality goods that are functionally crafted and artistically designed.” Think hand-carved wooden items for the home, island-inspired surfing fins, and swimwear galore. Goin Left is also a stockist of Lokahi Swimwear (not that we’re biased) and champion many brands and items designed and created by locals.
Named after a mystical bay on Maui’s north shore, Honolua Surf Co creates clothing for children, men, and women who love the sea, surfing, and watersports. Honolua has 11 different stores in Hawaii, including Maui, Oahu, and Kauai. I mean. A full collection dedicated purely to pineapples. What more could you want?
Launched in 1971, T&C Hawaii is a staple retailer serving the islands’ surfing scene. The company has eight different stores that sell surf, skate & bodyboard hard goods along with apparel and accessories. T&C are best known for their custom, high-performance surfboards.
T&C’s boards are all made at their surfboard factory, located in Wahiawa. Each board is custom-built and crafted from the finest materials. Hence the excellent reputation T&C has built within the surfing community.
Maui Adventure Sports
With a store right here in Maui, Adventure Sports USA is another stockist of our Lokahi Swimwear surf bikinis and swimsuits. The store sells equipment for pretty much every watersport you can think of – from kitesurfing to paddleboarding. As well as surfboards, you can pick up those all-important accessories like surf wax and board add-ons. They have an online store as well as retail stores in Hawaii and the USA.
Surf N Sea
Operating since 1965, Hawaii’s oldest surf shop Surf N Sea sells ocean-related products and apparel. They’ve even collaborated with the big names in surfing – Hurley, Reef, and Vans – to name a few. You can find Surf N Sea’s one-stop surf store lining the north shore of Oahu.
Hawaiian Island Creations
Last but not least, Hawaiian Island Creations began as a small surf store in Oahu. Since they launched in 1971, they’ve built a strong following in the surfing community, and have 14 stores across three islands. They stock products from several surfing brands – both international and local and sell just about everything you can think of when it comes to surfing.
